31 weeks ago today, the world was a very different place. The COVID-19 pandemic was just starting to gain momentum, and many of us had no idea what was in store for us in the months ahead.
Back then, we were still going about our daily lives as usual. We were going to work, school, and social events without giving a second thought to the possibility of contracting a deadly virus. We were shaking hands, hugging, and gathering in large groups without any fear or hesitation.
But as we all know now, things quickly changed. The virus began to spread rapidly, and governments around the world were forced to take unprecedented measures to try to slow it down. Lockdowns, social distancing, and face masks became the new norm, and we all had to adapt to a new way of life.
31 weeks ago today, we had no idea how long this pandemic would last. We didn't know how many lives it would claim, how many businesses would be forced to close, or how many people would lose their jobs. We didn't know how long we would have to stay home, or how long it would be until we could hug our loved ones again.
But despite all the uncertainty and fear, we've also seen incredible acts of kindness and resilience over the past 31 weeks. We've seen healthcare workers risk their own lives to save others. We've seen communities come together to support one another. And we've seen countless acts of generosity and compassion that remind us of the best of humanity.
31 weeks ago today, we were in for a wild ride. And while we still have a long way to go before we can put this pandemic behind us, I'm hopeful that we'll come out of this stronger and more united than ever before.
