Fourteen weeks ago was a time when the world was a very different place. Many of us were still going about our daily lives without the weight of a global pandemic on our shoulders. We felt free to travel, to go out to restaurants and bars, to gather with friends and family without fear of spreading a deadly virus.

But even back then, there were signs that something was amiss. News reports from China and other parts of Asia were beginning to filter through, warning of a new and dangerous disease that was spreading rapidly. We may have been able to ignore these warnings at first, but as the weeks went on, it became increasingly clear that the world was facing a crisis of unprecedented proportions.

By the time fourteen weeks ago rolled around, many countries were already in the midst of lockdowns and other measures aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19. Schools and businesses had closed, and people were being urged to stay home as much as possible. We were all learning to adapt to a new way of life, one where social distancing and hand-washing were the norm.

But it wasn't all doom and gloom. In some ways, the early days of the pandemic were a time of solidarity and togetherness. We saw people coming together to support one another, whether it was through mutual aid groups, online communities, or simply by checking in on friends and family. We also saw incredible acts of bravery and heroism from healthcare workers, who put themselves at risk every day to care for those who were sick.

Looking back on fourteen weeks ago, it's clear that we've come a long way since then. Many countries have managed to flatten the curve and bring their infection rates down, thanks in part to the sacrifices that people made during those early days of the pandemic. But we're not out of the woods yet. The virus is still spreading in many parts of the world, and we still have a lot of work to do if we want to get back to some semblance of normalcy.

In the meantime, let's remember the lessons we learned during those early weeks of the pandemic. Let's continue to look out for one another, to stay informed, and to do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19. And let's never forget the incredible sacrifices that so many people have made to keep us all safe.
